When you call Gulf Coast Electric, your electrical problems are handled promptly and professionally. Whether it is residential, commercial or electrical service work that you need, no matter how large or small the job, Gulf Coast Electric is the electrical contractor to call.
The corporation was established in 1980, and its business offices and warehouse are located at 8 Commerce Road in Destin, Florida. Over the years the firm has grown to 30 plus employees, operating out of 24 radio dispatched service vehicles, including a 40 foot bucket truck, to service your electrical needs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The firm's management team consists of five highly skilled, educated and trained individuals that bring over 140 years of electrical experience to the firm. Two of these individuals are licensed, card-carrying Master Electricians. There is not much in the field of electrical construction or troubleshooting that Gulf Coast Electric has not experienced.
Gulf Coast Electric is split up into three areas of expertise. Jeff R. Linn is President and owner of the corporation. Linn is a licensed State Certified Master Electrician, and started the business in 1980. Don Joiner is the Vice President of the firm and is the Operations Manager. He is also in charge of all Commercial Electrical Construction. Joiner, a Licensed Master Electrician has been in the electrical trade since 1973. He spent many years as president of his own electrical contracting company.
Dave Hawkins is the Service Department Manager and is a Licensed Journeyman Electrician. Dave has been in the electrical trade since 1968. Dave heads up the Service Department for the firm which offers 24-hour emergency electrical service, 365 days a year. The Service Department has skilled emergency electrician's on-call 24-hours a day to meet any electrical emergency need that the customer may have. The electrical service work that the firm performs ranges from simple ceiling fan installations to troubleshooting major electrical problems, such as those at wastewater treatment facilities. "We have an experienced staff and the versatility to provide our customers with the absolute best electrical service work available," Linn states, "Our service electricians are experienced and professionals. The service electricians take great pride in doing the job right the first time." Service technicians with the company carry identification badges, are uniformed, and go through a strict training program the technicians always have the customer's best interest in mind. We leave the job the way we found it, taking care to use tarps and covers if necessary to protect the customer's assets, along with going the extra mile to vacuum and clean up after the job. Complete customer satisfaction is our utmost priority. All electrical work that Gulf Coast Electric performs is 100% guaranteed with a written guarantee presented to each customer before the job is started.
Mike Carroll is the residential Construction Manager and is in charge of all residential electrical construction; Carroll is one of the firm's oldest employees having been with the firm for over 20 years. The Residential Department works for many of the area's top builders and does both residential new construction and renovation projects. One of Carroll's many tasks is actually meeting on the job site with custom home builders and their customers, walking through the residence room by- room, making sure lighting, switching, communications and power requirements are met in each and every room, per the electrical plans and the customer's desires. "Our experience has shown that many home owners take the electrical plans for granted," Linn states, "they assume that whatever is drawn on the electrical plans by the architect will meet their needs. Unfortunately, they are often disappointed; we try to eliminate this disappointment. We make a point to spend time with the custom home builder and owner checking the plans for such items as receptacles, TV and telephone locations, along with specific lighting and switching requirements for such details as task lighting, accent lighting, landscape lighting and security lighting. There are so many wonderful things that you can do with lighting today that absolutely beautifies your home and increases its value that is an injustice not to spend time planning for these beautifications. "What makes us different from our competitors", Linn states, "is the level of our personnel and the ultimate commitment to 100% complete customer satisfaction." We are able to make such strong commitments, Linn emphasizes, because we absolutely employ the finest electricians and management personnel that the area has to offer. Most of our employees have been with us for many years. The company offers a benefits package that included health insurance, life insurance, vacation pay, holiday pay, sick pay, 401-K Plan and a very lucrative profit sharing program that is 100% company funded. These benefits allow us to attract the most skilled electricians in the area, therefore, providing our customers with a talented work force that is unsurpassed in the electrical industry guaranteeing their 100% satisfaction.
The company also offers expertise in such specialty areas as the installation of energy saving equipment and transient voltage surge suppression, which in today's high tech society is a necessity, and not an option, for protection of sophisticated electrical and electronic equipment against harmful, damaging surges. The firm's specialized equipment includes a bucket truck with a working height of 40 feet, therefore, allowing the firm to service parking lot lighting. The firm also owns sophisticated fault-finding equipment used in locating damaged conductors in the least amount of time possible. Gulf Coast Electric is also the areas only authorized Kohler Generator Dealer and has become a leader in generator installations.
Gulf Coast Electric goes a step further in maintaining customer service as it has a fully stocked and staffed warehouse complete with delivery personnel and vehicles. Ken Lesko is the Warehouse Manager/Purchasing Agent and has been with the firm since 1998. If we have an electrician on the job and he happened to need a part that is not stocked on his service vehicle, we have the personnel available to immediately delivery this item to him. This feature allows our electricians to stay on the job working and they are usually able to complete the task, avoiding costly time running for parts, or having to inconvenience the customer with a return call on the next day. Gulf Coast Electric listens and understands customers concerns and makes every effort to keep costs to a minimum. The firm offers estimates on all types of new construction and they are always free.
Gulf Coast Electric firmly believes in giving back to the community. "We have been very fortunate and lucky over the last 29 years," Linn states, "our business has grown substantially. The surrounding communities have been good to us and we make a point of contributing our resources to community organizations, schools and charities."
